The spectrum shows absorption in violet-to-blue regions with transmission in light blue, green and yellow regions with further strong absorption in the red-to-infrared region. Species - Cuprian Elbaite The copper-bearing tourmaline may be called “Paraíba tourmaline” in the trade. The name “Paraíba” comes from the Brazilian locality where this gem variety was first mined. However, today, it may come from several localities.
